Engraved flashlights by Starline were a big hit at the OPPA product show in Cleveland Ohio. The promotional product show on January 25 was exclusively for distributors of business gifts.
A powerful torch, and big seller, is this FL129 by Starline. It is super bright (250 lumens, and utilizes the COB (chip on board) technology. When you pull out the head, it shows the alternate flood light. A swivel neck, and magnetic base make this work light a winner.
Doug Oslance, the Regional Sales Manager is demonstrating it for me.
Since hurricanes Harvey hit Texas 2 weeks ago, and Irma hit Florida last weekend, it’s time to evaluate the best and brightest engraved flashlights for hurricane survival. The winner, hands down, is the “Intense Triple Output LED flashlight, CREE® XM-L2-U2, model FL142” by Starline. It has 5 functions, that you activate by pushing in the button just part way, each time. They are
On the High beam you get 1050 Lumens of brightness. The beam is focus-able by turning the head. The 9 AA batteries are the secret of the brightness, and of course the advanced circuitry. The customer’s corporate logo is laser engraved on the anodized aluminum barrel.
Maglites are the best USA-Made flashlight. They are built tough, and will last a lifetime. But, here are 5 secrets you probably didn’t know about Maglite Flashlights.
LED (the bulb on an LED Maglite, or any LED flashlight) doesn’t last forever. It doesn’t burn out. It just gets dimmer and dimmer with age. Don’t worry. Depending on your usage, it should remain very bright till a time between 50 years and 2,000 years from now.
Maglites® are designed to be highly water resistant. However, they are not advertised to be waterproof.
Maglites® are not tested to be explosion-proof or intrinsically safe. Some workers who use a flashlight in highly volatile environments need that type of flashlight.
There are flashlights made for that purpose.
Old and weak alkaline batteries can damage your Maglite® just as they can damage any other flashlight. Maglites® are built tough, but guarding against a leaky battery is above and beyond the call of duty. Many battery manufacturers have a repair/replacement policy if your flashlight is damaged by one of their leaky batteries.
The ANSI standard of rating the power of flashlights was started only in 2009. Mag Instrument has agreed to abide by the ANSI standard, and rates its flashlights so you can compare one with another. ANSI stands for American National Standards Institute. The parameters used are:
Most powerful LED flashlight made by Maglite® is a staggering 643 lumens bright.
You may find a flashlight with more lumens, but not this powerful. What gives the RL1019 so much power? The fact that it is rechargeable anywhere. You can charge it in any room of your house or garage. You can even charge it in your car or boat or RV. With the wall bracket, it remains ready whenever you are.
Another powerful feature is the availability of 4 function sets. Choose a function set that you like, and your torch will give you 3 different outputs. The General function set has Full Power, Low Power, and Eco. The Outdoor function set has Full Power, Low Power, and Strobe. The Law Enforcement function set has Momentary, Full Power, and Eco. The Tactical function set has Momentary, Full Power, and Strobe. When you buy one, it comes with the default General function set, but you can change it to one of the others if you want to.
Maglite® has improved on its famous line of USA-made flashlights. The new ML25LT LED 2 and 3 C-cell flashlight was shown at the OPPA show in Cleveland Ohio last week. This show is for promotional product distributors only. So if you want to see a sample of this new torch, just ask your favorite promotional product distributor. The brightness is 177 lumens, 2 hours (2C cells) and 173 lumens, 18 hours (3C cells).
If you want a Maglite engraved with your company logo, that can be done, too. Your logo will look white against the color background of the barrel. The white color is caused by the reaction between the laser engraving and the base metal, aluminum.
Who uses Maglites? Your customers do. Why not put your logo where is counts, and will last forever? Big users are: real estate salesmen, inspectors, plumbers, electricians, construction estimators, carpenters, contractors, HVAC installers, exterminators, basement waterproofers, furnace repair men, chimney inspectors, and homeowners.
Brian Debottis (of Starline) showed me the best and brightest engraved flashlights at the OPPA show in Cleveland Ohio last week. I have one of these Triple Output LED CREE FL142 flashlights, and tried it out one night. It can light up the complete side of a building. It’s bright enough to be able to paint the side of your house at night! Currently, I keep it in my boat. When working in the engine compartment, you need a super bright light, and this flashlight fills the bill.
There are 2 secrets to its brightness. First, is the CREE bulb. CREE bulbs are extremely brighter that an ordinary LED bulb or an incandescent bulb. Second, there are 9 AA batteries inside. If they are all connected in series, that would give it 13.5 volts to work with. No wonder it is rated at 1050 Lumens.
The FL142 can be laser engraved with your corporate logo. This makes for a long-lasting, appreciated gift when you present it to your best customers.

What is the most powerful LED flashlight in the world? To answer this question, we must define “powerful”. Do we mean “lumens”, battery life, number of features, or dependability? Lumens would be the simple answer to the question. The brighter the flashlight, the more powerful it is.
The other answers draw attention to the other important features that we look for when we buy a powerful flashlight. Also, does the country of origin come into play when choosing a powerful flashlight? Many people think so. USA-made products, like the MagLite are popular around the world.
So here is our answer to the question in the title of this article: We believe the most powerful LED Flashlight is:
When you shop for engraved flashlights, you are looking for 3 things. Price and brightness, and durability.
PRICE. From the high end of this spectrum is Maglite. Maglite flashlights are USA-made, which contributes to the higher price of this favorite flashlight. If you are using these as company give-aways, then you might consider some well-made Chinese LED flashlights for much less money. The Dako lights fit the bill for this category.
Neutron Rechargeable Triple Output CREE FL106
BRIGHTNESS. The new CREE LED bulbs give much more lumens than other LED bulbs. This new technology gives off an astounding amount of brightness. All LED bulbs are very bright, compared to the old incandescent bulbs.
DURABILITY. Many of today’s engraved flashlights are made with a durable aluminum case. It’s relatively easy to find a durable flashlight to show off your corporate logo on the barrel. Maglite is the expert in durability, with the knurled aluminum case and rubber gaskets.
