June is “National Great Outdoors Month” in the United States. It was started in 1998 to draw people to the national parks and local parks. Visiting the outdoors is good for the soul. It offers a great release from the pressures of everyday life. Best of all, many aspects of it are free. How can you focus on this activity?
Volunteer at a summer camp for kids.
Walk in the woods.
Take pictures of sunsets and post them on your social media outlet.
Go biking, running, or walking on a local trail.
Run with your baby.
Get out of town and take a drive in the country.
No matter where you go, don’t leave home without your Maglite Flashlights. They can save your life if you get lost, or get caught after sunset in an unfamiliar place.
Pipe Tally Books are normally used by workers in oilfields. They keep track of the
exact time that a section of pipe is attached to the drilling rig. Also they record the length and diameter of the pipe. These drilling workers need a heavy duty book that can easily fit into their pocket. That’s a short history of tally books. But here are some things you might not have known about these special books:
Anyone who works outdoors and needs to keep records, can use a tally book. Other users are foresters, wind energy inspectors, handymen, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and waterworks people.
The pages are sewn in, for durability. A little ring binder wouldn’t be as durable.
A new option for the pages is the sewn water-resistant Stone Pad. If you try to tear a sheet, it just stretches a little. You can’t tear it.
The cover is made of high grade vinyl, which comes in colors to coordinate with your company logo. This gives the book a high resistance to rain and abrasion.
Got a favorite pen or pencil? Since these books are custom made, they can have a pen loop built into them.
For the last 36 years, since 1979, Maglite Flashlights have been designed and manufactured in the USA by Anthony Maglica in Ontario, California. What will he come up with for the next 36 years? To get into the creative mind of Anthony, lets see what he has done in the past, and see what he has changed.
What Has Stayed the Same with Mag-Lites. The frame of each flashlight has always bee anodized 6061 aluminum, and designed and manufactured in the USA. The colors for most of the models have been limited to black, silver, blue, and red.
What Has Changed with Mag-Lites. A few of the popular models are available in other colors, like green, orange, purple. The original ones used xenon or krypton incandescent bulbs. The new ones use LED bulbs. Accessories have been added, such as mounting brackets, holsters, rechargeable models, and LED conversion kits. The original ones just had an on/off switch. Now there are various modes in some models. Strobe, SOS, momentary, low power, and eco power. A set of 3 modes can be selected for General Use, Outdoor Use, Law Enforcement, and Tactical. Engraved flashlights. The factory has also added the ability to have your maglite engraved with your logo, available through a world-wide system of promotional product distributors.
Could the next Maglite improvement be:
More types of flashing signals
Longer lasting batteries
Lighter weight, overall
Custom printing over the entire surface–a wrap imprint like the US flag version
Introducing a new model imported from China, to bring the cost down
